![]() Today we each phoned each other (phone tag), and the lady at the cider mill was still having problems with UPS, but promised to ship my (upgraded) order today or tomorrow. The owner promised to chase down the problem with UPS, and make good on my order. They traced the UPS record, and learned it was damaged upon arrival in the delivery city. ![]() I phoned the Cider Mill to inform them of my missing delivery. I learned later my relative’s gift had not arrived. My box arrived promptly and in good shape. Last year I could not drive up the mountain because of a major snow storm, so in mid-December I phoned and ordered some of my favorite syrups (blackberry, raspberry, pomegranate, and marionberry (they were out of my favorites: apricot and peach)) to be shipped to me, and also for a dear relative clear across the country. I love to browse through the shop and buy Christmas presents for the family and their thick, unadulterated, pancake syrups for me. The shop indeed does make and sell Julian’s apple cider, but it is crammed full of dried fruit, liquid and powdered delicacies of all kinds. My favorite shop there is this small family-operated Julian Cider Mill on the main street. Once a year I travel to Carlsbad (by-the-sea) for a week, and one day each time I look for an opportunity to drive up the mountain to the rustic little town of Julian.
